Gatlinburg SkyPark unveils Clayton’s Landing in new expansion
Expansion includes scenic viewing area and new restaurant
GATLINBURG, TN – December 18, 2024- Gatlinburg SkyPark, Gatlinburg’s longest running attraction, recently unveiled a transformative expansion of the park. Clayton’s Landing, a scenic viewing area, and Smoky Mountain Smash, a new smash burger restaurant, opened to the public on Friday, December 13, offering unrivaled Smoky Mountain views.
Nestled on the west side of the SkyBridge, Clayton's Landing offers guests unrivaled mountain views from the comfort of glider chairs, tables, and firepits. Spanning an impressive 10,000 square feet with seating for more than 235 guests, this new venue provides an ideal setting for families and friends to unwind, savor exceptional food and drinks, and fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking Smoky Mountain landscape. A brand-new hiking trail system is just a step away from the new viewing deck. With 1.5 mile of hiking trails guests are transported to an unforgettable experience on the outskirts of Great Smoky Mountains National Park with panoramas of the many mountain peaks that surround Gatlinburg.
Clayton’s Landing, named in honor of Clayton Watson—former general manager and father of the current general manager—will offer a relaxed mountain atmosphere, complementing the launch of the Smoky Mountain Smash restaurant.
“I’m thankful and honored for this section of the SkyPark to be dedicated to my father, Clayton who left an indelible mark on Gatlinburg during this 38-year tenure,” said Randy Watson, Gatlinburg SkyPark’s general manager. “The new expansion is a place for future generations to gather and appreciate the spectacular Smoky Mountain views,”
Also located on Clayton’s Landing is Smoky Mountain Smash, a quick service restaurant that brings the flavors of Appalachian cuisine to life with its unique smash burger offerings.
Each burger is crafted using locally sourced meats, produce, and complemented by house-made signature sauces. Desserts include Momma Nette’s Apple Pie logs and Aunt Bonnie’s Back Woods brownie, all named after legacy employees.
Gatlinburg SkyPark welcomes guests to visit during the holiday and experience the new viewing area and restaurant, then return at night for the Lights Over Gatlinburg holiday lights. For more information visit www.gatlinburgskypark.com
